The 2.4-liter Hyundai G4KG or Grand Starex 2.4 gasoline engine has been produced since 2007 and is installed on a wide range of commercial vehicles, including Starex minibuses. There is a gas version of this unit with a capacity of 159 hp under the index L4KB or 2.4 LPi.
In 2007, a 2.4-liter engine for rear-wheel drive models appeared in the Theta I line, which differed from a similar unit with the G4KC index in the absence of a block of balancers. The rest of the design is identical: there is an aluminum cylinder block with cast-iron liners, a 16-valve head without hydraulic lifters, an inlet dephaser and a timing chain drive. Also, the G4KG motor has a different intake manifold and of course without a geometry change system.
The modification of this engine with the index L4KB or 2.4 LPi, designed to run on liquefied gas, is widely used. This modification has slightly reduced power to 159 hp.
