The 2.2-liter Ford 2.2 TDCi diesel engines were produced by the company from 2006 to 2018 and were installed on a number of popular models under the Ford, Land Rover and Jaguar brands. In fact, these power units are clones of the DW12MTED4 and DW12CTED4 engines.
In 2006, a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 156 hp debuted on the Land Rover Freelander II SUV, which was one of the variations of the P DW12MTED4 engine. In 2008, its 175-horsepower modification appeared on the Ford Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max models. By design, there is a cast-iron block, an aluminum 16-valve cylinder head with hydraulic compensators, a combined timing drive from a belt and a small chain between the camshafts, a modern EDC16CP39 Common Rail fuel system with piezo injectors, and a powerful Garrett GTB1752VK turbocharger with variable geometry and intercooler.
In 2010, this diesel engine was upgraded, similar to the P DW12CTED4 engine. Thanks to a more efficient Mitsubishi TD04V turbine, its power was raised to 200 hp.
The first generation of such diesel engines developed 175 hp and was equipped with a Garrett GTB1752VK turbine:
